SAPU's Eco-Fashion Show: 2008 Recycled Couture

Last January 26, 2008, Polish academy SAPU - Szkoła Artystycznego Projektowania Ubioru (School of Art and Fashion Design) in Krakow showed the world that they can save Mother Earth by creating Eco-Fashion: stylized clothing that uses environmentally sensitive fabrics and responsible production techniques.

The school has been creating ecological clothes for over ten years and 1500 guests applauded as they showcased various creative collections made of diverse kinds of paper and large assortment of oversized quilted garments during the show.

The Eco-Fashion show marked the opening event for "The Fashion Academy Award" - the international contest for young designers, organized by Goethe Institut, Quelle and EUNIC Berlin.

Here are some creations presented during the Eco-Fashion show:

My say: I love pink and I'm loving this gown! In fairness, nobody can notice if it's made of paper unless you'll get soaked with your own sweat.

My say: (a little bit) Weird gown but a perfect spring outfit. With it's perfect color combination, it will add a little spring in your step.

My say: This is a GIANT fan dress. You may be uncomfortable with it but who cares? The color and style is so chic!

My say: Ooppss! I'll never wear this one. I want to save the world and do some recycling stuff but I will not parade the street with those boxes. For sure, you'll look odd and funny.

My say: Oversized quilted garments would give warmth for your cold body during cold season but I think covering your face is not a good idea.

My say: Looks like an oversized pajama set. With the black garbage plastic bag, you'll be the center of attraction and be a fashion icon in your own "special way".
