Shahrukh Khan & Kareena Kapoor on Ra.1 sets in London - Unseen Photos

The Baadshah of Bollywood and the hottest babe of Bollywood are back together. Yes..we are indeed talking about Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor who are currently busy shooting for the sci-fi extravaganza Ra.1 in London. Amidst all the dare-devil action sequences, the duo are also having a good time bonding with Karan Johar who is also in London. Karan in fact even visited the sets of Ra.1 and assisted in the shooting much to the cast and crew's delight.

SRK as Leonadro Di Caprio

Bollywood is excited that the patch-up between Shah Rukh Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj (after years!) has led to the possibility of a remake of Martin Scorsese's super hit The Departed.

That SRK and Bhardwaj will do a film is certain, and if it is the official remake of Scorsese's film, then the actor will most certainly do Di Caprio's role. Which is that of a cop! The last time Shah Rukh played a cop was 10 years ago in the average action drama One 2 Ka 4 co-starring Jackie Shroff.

Apparently, both SRK and Bhardwaj are keen on a joint production and in the meeting that they last had, they were eager to remake The Departed. The consent and rights have to be got from the international production house post which they can embark upon their ambitious film. For Matt Damon's role in the Hollywood film, the two will have to sit down and think about which other big Bollywood star to cast.

However, at the time both SRK and Bhardwaj are busy with current projects, and this remake will not take off before 2011. The Bollywood Badshah is working on Ra.One and Don 2, the former being his home production for which SRK will look into everything from marketing to promotions. He apparently has kept three months away from all other work for Ra.One. Actor SRK, meanwhile, is busy going through a gruelling schedule in freezing Berlin for Don 2. Thus, he has no time to sit with Bhardwaj and discuss their project.

Bhardwaj has dedicated all his time for Saat Khoon Maaf and his ambitious next film Dream Sequence which is still going through casting issues. Hence, the project with SRK is also not on his mind. They will only meet early next year to have a fresh discussion on The Departed remake. In case, it is too difficult for them to work out this project given the rights that have to be taken, they might discuss doing something else. But they will work together next year, that's a guarantee.

Interestingly, the two other Khans — Aamir and Salman — are also playing cops in movies slated for 2011. While Salman will again play the lovable Robin Hood-ish Chulbul Pandey in the sequel to Dabangg, Aamir is playing the cop after 12 years in Reema Kagti's film. He last played a police officer in the hit Sarfarosh.

Shah Rukh Khan met the cast and crew of 'Khichdi - The Movie', and apologised for not turning up earlier when they unveiled the film's poster outside his house Mannat in Bandra, Mumbai.
He has promised that he will watch the comedy film, which is a big screen adaptation of the popular small screen show 'Khichdi'.
"If I get late, I will call for a copy and watch it, after all ghar ki khichdi hai (afterall, it's within the family)," said Shah Rukh, who is an inspiration for the 'Khichdi' team for making a successful transition from being a TV actor to one of India's most sought after superstars. He has even urged the public to support the film.
"Please go out and watch this film if you feel like laughing with your family, I can assure you it will be a fun-filled evening," he added.
The actors - Supriya Pathak, Anang Desai, Rajeev Mehta and Nimisha Vakharia - too hope that the film is as successful as the series were and treads the same path as Shah Rukh, who created a niche for himself with serials like 'Fauji' and 'Circus' and went on to make it big in Bollywood.
"SRK taught us humility and that is why he is truly our inspiration, and we thank him for coming here personally and giving his best wishes to all of us. He told us - 'All the best, god bless'," said producer-actor J.D. Mathejia of Hats Off Productions.

Shahrukh Khan Ra.One First Look Wallpaper

The first official high-quality posters of forthcoming Shahrukh Khan starrer sci-fi robot Bollywood film Ra.One have been released by Eros International.
The film also stars actress Kareena Kapoor and hero Arjun Rampal in lead roles.
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film features SRK as a science-fiction superhero.
Reports indicate "Ra.One" stands for "Random Access - Version 1.0. The film is being made with a Hollywood-based special effects team and is expected to be expensive as well as spectacular.

In the Movie, If you think Shahrukh Khan plays the title role in his forthcoming film Ra.One, think again. The latest we hear is that it’s not Shahrukh but Arjun Rampal, who plays the character named Ra.One.
It is reported that Shahrukh plays double role in the film, one of which is a scientist who creates two robots – the good one named G.One and the bad one named Ra.One. Shahrukh plays G.One and Arjun plays Ra.One.
Ever since this sci-fi film was announced, it has generated tremendous buzz. Director Anubhav Sinha and his team have been working round the clock to ensure that they have a high quality product. In an upcoming ad for Dish TV, SRK has donned an avatar of a 75-year-old man who romances his wife behind closed doors by dancing with her. Anurag Basu, of Kites fame, who's directed this ad says, The story is very cute. Tanvi Azmi is playing Shah Rukh's wife. They're hiding inside their room and are dancing. Anurag, together with adman Prasoon Joshi, the brain behind the concept, planned the look and the ad. We didn't know if SRK will agree to the idea. I didn't want to make him Veer Zaara kinda old. It had to be different. So, pehle Shah Rukh ko buddha banaya humne pictures mein, and then showed it to him. He was very sporting and loved the idea, says Anurag.

While his contemporaries are playing college-students in movies, isn't it a leap of faith for SRK to add 30 years to his real age? Prasoon says, He liked the script a lot. Shah Rukh totally ready for a comeback

King Khan spent birthday with family and friends

Shah Rukh Khan, who turned 44 on Nov 2, spent some "quiet time with family and friends" on his birthday, putting behind a year of ups and downs and looking forward to a strong comeback.

With only one of his films - "Billu" - hitting the screens in 2009, the actor has promised his fans more action in the coming two years.

"I am a workaholic, but in the last year I couldn't do much due to my shoulder problem. My team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) didn't do too well and I shot for just one film 'My Name Is Khan'. My injury also pulled me down in terms of my endorsements, but I had time to introspect and spend a quieter time at home with my children," Shah Rukh told reporters at a press conference in Mumbai on Nov 2 (pictured left).

"I feel more energetic and happy now and totally ready for a comeback with many projects in the next two years after this one-year break," he added.

On his birthday, Shah Rukh has chosen to spend "quiet time with his family and friends" instead of partying hard, his spokesperson told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

Shah Rukh was in New Delhi on Nov 1 to kick off the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and cheer and egg on the runners. It seemed like he is still recovering from an arthroscopic surgery he underwent earlier this year for a nagging pain in his left shoulder.

The Bollywood superstar chose not to run at the marathon but caused quite a hysteria among the runners and watchers by just being present among them.

He said: "Though I could not run this time because of my shoulder and knee injury, I'll try to be fit and run next year. Running is a spiritual experience."

The past year also brought him disappointment when his cricket team KKR did not perform too well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.

Shah Rukh Khan was also in the spotlight when he suffered a two-hour detention at the Newark Airport in the US in August, reportedly over his surname.

Otherwise, 2009 gave the actor many reasons to cheer as he became Dr Shah Rukh Khan when he was presented an honorary doctorate in arts and culture by the Bedfordshire University in London.

He was also bestowed with two honours by the South Korean government - an honorary belt in taekwondo and the title of an honorary ambassador for culture and tourism.

Shah Rukh even purchased a 20 million pound apartment in London.

Now, after spending quality time with his wife Gauri and children Aryan and Suhana, Shah Rukh is looking forward to the release of his various films like "My Name Is Khan", "Happy New Year" and "Don 2".

Among these, his "My Name Is Khan" is the most awaited as it will mark his coming together with actress Kajol for the first time in eight years. The two starred in five films together, including "Baazigar", "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" and "Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge", all of which were superhits. "My Name Is Khan" will release on Feb 12, 2010.

Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta rues she hasn't got enough opportunities in Bollywood to showcase her talent despite being around for four years. But the National Award winner is excited about sharing screen space with none other than Shah Rukh Khan - in an ad film. "Yes, Bollywood couldn't recognise my talent to the extent expected, " Rituparna, who forayed into the Hindi film industry with "Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh" in 2005, told on phone from Kolkata. She was then seen in box office duds like "Unns - Love...Forever", "Gauri - The Unborn" and "Sirf - Life Looks Greener on the Other Side". Rituparna believes she could have made a mark in the Hindi film industry if she had had the advantage of Bollywood lineage or contacts. "It's difficult to make a mark in Bollywood if you do not belong to a film family or have proper contacts. Talent speaks when you get proper opportunity, " said Rituparna. Her consolation is that she got a chance to share screen space with superstar Shah Rukh in an ad film for Sona Chandi Chyawanprash. She plays his wife in it. "It was an amazing experience to work with Shah Rukh. He is cordial and the kind of person who values time, " she said. Asked if she was nervous about working with the actor, she said: "I was very nervous when I got to know that I would be opposite Shah Rukh. I have a huge fan following, but personally I am a great fan of his." Rituparna shared her first National Award for Best Actress with Bengali peer Indrani Haldar for her role in Rituparno Ghosh's "Dahan" in 1998 and recently won the same for Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury's Bengali film "Anuranan". Right now she is looking forward to her forthcoming Hindi movie "Paroksh". It is Anup Das' directorial debut and the filmmaker has woven a captivating story around a surrogate mother. "It's a very women-oriented film. The story is so contemporary that a woman can easily relate herself with the characters, " added Rituparna, who recently did the dialogue promotion for director David Dhawan's "Do Knot Disturb" along with actor Riteish Deshmukh. "When David Dhawan approached me for it, I happily agreed. Riteish is a nice guy and a fantastic person to work with, " she said. Asked if she had taken Hindi lessons during her initial days in Bollywood, she said: "No, I knew the language and I do my own dubbing." Rituparna has also proved her talent as a playback singer in a song featured on her in "Anuranan". "I sung it only to sync sound as my director said he would get it professionally sung later. But he liked it so much that he kept it as it is. Thus I made my debut as a playback singer, " said Rituparna. The actress has finished shooting for two more Hindi films - Ajay Varma's "S.R.K" and Faisal Saif's "Osama". She will also be seen in Priyadarshan's Hindi version of Iranian film "Children of Heaven".

No takers for ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’?

Big B and Shah Rukh have refused to host the show

It had changed Amitabh Bachchan’s life forever, but today the show has no takers. Yes, we are talking about “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.

The show gave a new lease of life to Big B’s career several years ago. It had marked his hugely successful comeback after a major slump in his career. Bachchan’s popularity only soared thereafter.

Today, it’s the show which needs rescuing.

Apparently, producer Siddharth Basu is running from door to door to find some takers as he readies for the fourth season of the game show. Both Shah Rukh Khan and Big B have bluntly refused to host the show. Even leading channels like Sony, Star, Zee and Colors have said that they have enough on their hands and are not willing to air the show.

Will this mark an end to KBC, which was at one point of time the biggest attraction on Star Plus?

The relationship between KBC and Bachchan soured when Big B left the show due to some illness. He could not shoot the remaining episodes and later SRK was roped in. Though, Bachchan settled the matter, he apparently made up his mind never to work on this show again.

For Orissa villagers Shah Rukh is a hero, not just a star

Laxmi Mondal of Banhipal village in Orissa's Kendrapara district has never watched any of Shah Rukh Khan's movies, as the village has been without electricity all these years. But for this poor village woman the Bollywood actor has turned into a real life hero by lighting up their lives.

Shah Rukh has funded a solar power harnessing project which provides light to the village after sunset.

'There is no electricity in our village and we don't expect it to be provided by the government in the near future. So the electric lanterns have become very handy for us. Though we used kerosene lanterns earlier, they couldn't be relied upon due to the brisk breeze throughout the day as our village is just a few kilometres away from the Bay of Bengal,' said Mondal.

Banhipal is not the only village which is a beneficiary of Shah Rukh's largesse. There are six other villages - Ahirajpur, Okilapala, Palachua, Rangani, Denlasahi and Gupti in Kendrapara district which have benefited from this solar harnessing project which has been fully funded by Shah Rukh Khan.

The project is part of the Greenathon initiative of NDTV called 'Lighting Billon Lives'. Technical assistance has been provided by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

Each village has been provided with about 50 solar lanterns with a single charging point. The lanterns are charged every morning through solar panels set on rooftops.

The charging of lanterns, distribution and collection of money are mainly manned by women members of the village.

Though Shah Rukh has borne the installation cost, the maintenance cost is taken care of by the villagers themselves.

'We have a corpus to meet the running expenses of these lanterns. We raise the corpus by charging just Rs.2.50 from every villager. We charge extra if one takes the lanterns for use during festivals and special occasions. And if a person from a neighbouring village takes it then he is charged Rs.10 per night,' said Biraja Prasad Pati, of Nature Club, a local NGO which implemented the project.

These villages are primarily small clusters of Bengali-speaking people. The villagers use these lanterns not only to light their homes but also for other purposes.

'We use these lanterns for different purposes. Our men take these lanterns to scare away wild boars during night as they often destroy our standing paddy. The fishermen take these lanterns for fishing during night and our children study with these lanterns,' said Urmila Modal, from Okilapala village, adding that they often give these lanterns free of cost to meritorious students of the village.

Apart from these seven villages, Shah Rukh's generosity has helped in bringing light to two other villages - Jadapala and Tarajodi in Mayurbhanj district of the state.

Bollywood stars rarely travel without an entourage that might include hairdressers, make-up staff and in the case of some bigger stars, even bodyguards. So it came as a surprise that Shah Rukh Khan was travelling alone when he was detained by authorities in the United States last month. Now it appears his bodyguard, Yasin Khan, was denied a visa, allegedly for the same reasons that Shah Rukh was interrogated – merely for being profiled because of the “Khan” surname, and the American phobia about Muslims in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy.

Current flavour of the month, Priyanka Chopra, whether she enters a hotel foyer, or theatre, is almost never without her valet, Raja, secretary, Chand Mishra, public relations agents, hairdresser and, of course, a security person. Kareena Kapoor moves with secretary, Zahid Khan, a staff member from the celebrity endorsement agency, Poonam, and her close friend and filmmaker Lovely Singh. Hrithik Roshan has his security guards and secretary, Ashok Vasodia, with him at all points, but he does not encourage too many people to travel with him unless it is to a film shoot, where he then has his make-up man, valet and driver around.

Amitabh Bachchan has valet Praveen travelling with him, because he needs to be given his medication on time; while Akshay Kumar is accompanied by weight trainer, Jenny, two bodyguards, make-up man, Narendra and valet, Nitin. Salman Khan also travels with a team comprising his bodyguard, Shera, and brother, Sohail.

Dulha Mil Gaya starring, Shah Rukh Khan, Fardeen Khan, Johny Lever and Tara Sharma had been delayed for a while now but will finally see the light of day on November 13th.
