Michael Jackson Killed Himself: Dr. Conrad’s Newest Plea

Michael Jackson Killed Himself: Dr. Conrad’s Newest Plea

Michael Jackson killed himself according to Dr. Conrad Murray. A trial is about to begin over the involuntary manslaughter of the singer and Conrad’s lawyers will use the defense that Michael took his own life.

During yesterday’s initial hearing Dr. Conrad Murray’s team of lawyers put forth their defense and suggested that Michael Bukit Hijauistered the lethal dose of Propofol himself.

Defence lawyer J. Michael Flanagan said his client gave the singer just 25 milligrams of Propofol – much less than was found in his system and that a fingerprint found on a broken syringe on the bedroom floor has not been identified.

I guess all they are hoping to create is doubt. But to think that Michael Jackson killed himself? I’m not so sure the jury will believe that.

If Dr Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter, he will face up to four years in prison.

Fans Gather to Celebrate Michael Jackson's 52nd Birthday

Aceshowbiz :    Sunday, August 29 marked Michael Jackson's 52nd birthday. And although the King of Pop had passed away on June 25, 2009, his devotees have proven that they haven't forgotten the super star.

During the special day, fans gathered and paid tribute at the star's grave site at Forest Lawn in Glendale, California. On the memorial parks, Michael's fans laid various bucket of flowers, including red roses, sunflowers and daisies, and also best wishes they penned for the late star.

One fan paid homage to Michael by putting the "Smooth Criminal" singer's photo in a big yellow board with a message read, "I love you Michael. Sending kisses to you up above."

Many of other Michael's fans also celebrated the birthday outside the singer's childhood home in Gary, Indiana. Gary Mayor Rudy Clay also took part at the celebration, telling crowds "The passing of our favorite son, Michael Jackson, is still fresh in our hearts.

A year later, on the day before his birthday, we honor his memory as a great and giving person and as the world's greatest entertainer."

Meanwhile, a day earlier, more than 1,257 people gathered in front of the Riverside County Courthouse to set a record for the most people dancing to Michael's "Thriller", My Desert reported.

However, the mass dance still couldn't fight off West Bend, Wisconsin's national record with 1,820 spectators. Mexico City, in the meantime, holds the world record with more than 15,000 dancers in August 2009.

Michael Jackson Album Sales: Not Invincible

Michael Cover
Michael Jackson Album Sales: Not Invincible

Michael Jackson's posthumous new album, Michael, sold 228,000 copies in the U.S. and hundreds of thousands more abroad in its first week.

The domestic haul lagged only Taylor Swift's Speak Now (259,000) and Susan Boyle's The Gift (254,000). Not Invincible, but very formidable.

While perhaps a bit of a letdown by MJ standards, the "new" material was unreleased for a reason, and his sales trounced Crystal Bowersox.

Not surprisingly, the late King of Pop's label notes that he "shipped platinum" in 14 different territories, meaning a million or more units were sent to those areas.

That's different from his sales, which weren't nearly that high, but it's indicative of the interest his camp feels Michael will generate over the coming months.

MJ hit #1 Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden. He was #3 and #4 in Japan and the UK, respectively, but sold more than 100,000 copies in each.

The moral of the story? While will.i.am and Ne-Yo don't approve of the album, and the Thriller days are long gone ... the man is still pretty darn legendary.

Hole in Michael Jackson Death Timeline May Be Smoking Gun Against Dr. Conrad Murray

The prosecution commenced outlining its case against Dr. Conrad Murray during his preliminary hearing this week and suffice it to say, they're doing a good job.

From phone records to witnesses, nothing seems to line up well for the doc to beat the rap on involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.

Today's bombshell could be a smoking gun as far as disproving Murray's version of events that fateful day in June 25. All courtesy of his girlfriend too.

One Bad Doc
PHONING IT IN: Did Dr. Murray dial 911 when he said he did?

Hole in Michael Jackson Death Timeline May Be Smoking Gun Against Dr. Conrad Murray

A girlfriend of Dr. Conrad Murray at the time of Jackson's death established that he waited around 25 minutes to call for help after noticing a lifeless MJ.

Sade Anding, who was in Houston the day MJ died, says she got a call from Murray at around 12:30 p.m. Phone records show it was actually 11:51 a.m.

That difference is big, because the 911 call wasn't made until 12:21 p.m.

If Conrad Murray did indeed realize MJ was in distress at 11:55 a.m., there was a long delay in sounding the alarm. It looks like he did realize it that early, too.

Sade says Conrad Murray was asking her how she was doing and she talked about her day. She spoke for a little bit, then realized Conrad Murray wasn't on the phone.

Sade then said she heard commotion, as if the phone was in his pocket, and heard "coughing and voices." Sade estimates the call lasted five minutes.

The other fun fact resulting from this? That Murray was likely two-timing Nicole Alvarez, who investigators have said was also his girlfriend at the time!

Conrad Murray's defense team is more or less sitting the preliminary hearing out. There's no way a judge will throw the case out, so a jury trial awaits next.

They've elected not to play their hand until then in a bit of a strategic move, letting the prosecution lay out its evidence now virtually unabated. (THG)

So far, the evidence has been compelling. Stay tuned.

Pointless Desires: Silver Oxfords

Ugh. So, Christian Louboutin or Yohji Yamamoto or someone fancy pants made some fancy shiny silver Oxfords or brouges or whatever. I'm not even coveting those, but I DO want these simpler silver jazz shoes:

($100, Labour Of Love, Farfetch.com)

($132, Candela, Bluefly.com)

($595, Christian Louboutin, Net-a-porter.com)
Thoughts on these Christian Louboutin glittery "Fred" jazz shoes? Ridiculous, but with the black-and-white outfit, they're cool in a Michael Jackson way. (Btw, news you can use: Christian Louboutin custommade the shoes the dancers wore in the Michael Jackson tribute at this year's VMAs.)

Pretty Young Thing: Agyness Deyn Channels Michael Jackson

You've probably already seen this, but sometimes I'm on a slow post sched, so forgive me for being tardy to the party. It's Agyness Deyn in the September issue of Harper's Bazaar. Anyway, I love MJ (duh), and Agyness is one of my favorite models because she's not all tragically model-y and has the ability to look like a Glamazon, Holly Hobby, OR an angry, pouty little mop-topped boy. Enjoy!

Stella McCartney jacket

Moschino jacket

Rag & Bone blazer with Crystallized Swarovski Elements

Balmain pants and jacket

YSL jacket

Also -- random -- check out this photo of Agyness as a teenager. Thankfully she (like I), learned to chill on the brows. I, however, am still awaiting a modelling contract. I'M WAITING!

Topshop's Answer To The Michael Jackson Jacket!

After my unfortunate stumble upon that tie dye/ airbrushed jeans monstrosity from Topshop earlier this week, my faith was restored when I discovered what I'm POSITIVE is Topshop's updated take on the classic red 1980s Michael Jackson jacket.

($160, Topshop)
Actually, it kinda looks more like Liza Minnelli jacket, but let's not be picky.

+ More sequin jackets I love.

Oh yeah, I saw on the "news" that Michael Jackson had an all-sequin bedspread. Vom. Also, I had a cornflower blue all-poly fake MJ jacket back in the day, haters. And I went to Israel when I was little and my parents bought me this peach-colored shirt with Michael on it. It was DOPE on a ROPE and I WISH I had an adult-sized one now. Boo.
