Sorry for the absence, but I am planning something very exciting: a trip to New York! I am leaving next week, and my joy and excitement is almost too much to handle. This will be my very first trip so I am wondering if any of you have any brilliant tips to give me? Is there something I have to see or do while I am there? Best shops, best restaurants, etc.? Tell me all your New York secrets!

I Have A Sequin For An Eye



Back in March I found the most perfect vintage black sequin cardigan at my local thrift store. Even though it's perfection was almost too much to handle, I didn't buy it. Don't ask me why, I have no idea why I didn't! The next day, when I came to my senses and went back to the thrift store it was gone. And ever since that gloomy day in March, I have had sequins spinning around in my mind every so often.

Some think wearing sequins makes you look cheap, while others think it makes you look fabulous. I definitely belong to the last group. It has to be done right of course, and I can agree that there is a fine line between the sequin-hot and the sequin-not (like it is with leopard print too), but in general I find most sequin clothing gorgeous and stylish. Below are photos of people who inspire with their sequin outfits, and one nice way to spend a Sunday evening is to savour in lots of style inspiration. Also, looking at these photos might give you some inspiration for an outfit next weekend out on the town. Enjoy!

The Naked Dress

Okay, so I'm not quite finished gushing over Stella McCartney's S/S 09 collection so you'll just have to go through another post about her and her designs. More specifically one certain design. I am talking about "the naked dress" worn by model Lara Stone on the catwalk. The nude colour of the dress creates a skin-on-skin effect, that (when done right) is nearly too hot to handle. And Stella McCartney definitely gets 10 out of 10 points for this dress! I love the combination of the off-the-shoulders, slouchy top half, to the short, but still not too short, body-gripping bottom half. It's also nice the way Lara Stone has her hair pulled back tightly, that her make-up is clean and fresh, and that the accessories and shoes are kept simple. This defintely screams sex on legs!


When it comes to this dress, my thoughts instantly flew to Carrie's famous naked dress that she wore on her first date with Mr. Big in season 1. And we all know what Carrie and Big ended up doing that evening. It might be easy for some to compare the naked dress to a slutty dress, but I am not one of them. I actually think that in addition to the LBD every woman should have hanging in her wardrobe, every woman should also have a naked dress. Knowing your body, and knowing the fine line between sexy and slutty will get you a long way when it comes to having the confidence to wear and pull off this type of dress. So take some tips from Stella and Carrie, and don't be afraid to show what you've got!

Carrie's Paris, My Paris

Just to let you all know: this will is me from today and until October 5th. A reaction like this is not uncommon for me, and let me tell you that when I saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time when I was in Paris about two years ago, I had almost an exact same reaction like Carrie when she saw it. No kidding! I try to control it, but I have found that it's actually quite uncontrolable. Unfortunately, I'm not going to Paris today (oh how I wish!), but Paris will be coming to me through my laptop screen. Ladies and gentlemen, you all know what I am talking about: Paris Fashion Week is finally here!


To celebrate that Paris Fashion Week has arrived, I thought what better way to do it than combine two of my great fascinations and adorations, Paris and Carrie, and create a post out of it?! Watching the two last Sex & The City episodes where we get to follow Carrie and her experiences in Paris is such a lovely way to relax and just enjoy some great entertainment, fantastic fashion and not to mention wonderful surroundings. I admire the way Patricia Fields has styled Carrie in these episodes because the outfits reflect both Carrie's own way of dressing, but also adds the European and especially the French styles. May Paris Fashion Week bring us the same inspiration that we get from looking at these outfits!

I threw in this photo not only because Carrie's dress is wonderful, but also as a kind of "lucky charm" for the models who will fall on the runway during these days (we all know it will happen!). Here's hoping they at least will fall in style, just like Carrie.

"Sex and the city" este serialul cult pentru toate fashionistele, gratie caruia Sarah Jessica Parker a devenit o fashion icon, Patricia Field a iesit din anonimat, iar vanzarile la pantofii lui Manolo Blahnik au crescut considerabil. Carrie, personajul interpretat de SJP, care, by the way, a ramas cu toti pantofii pe care i-a purtat in cele sase sezoane, este o avangardista, poarta combinatii funky, este o shopaholica ce cheltuieste tone de bani pe haine pentru ca, spune ea, "I like my money where I can see it... hanging in my closet".
Accesoriile ei preferate sunt... pantofii, care "sunt mai buni decat sexul si tin mai mult". Printre designerii ei favoriti se afla Chanel, Dolce&Gabbana, Oscar de la Renta, Dior.
Lung-metrajul "Sex and the city" va aparea in mai, anul viitor, iar filmarile sunt in plina desfasurare.

WHEN I GET MY VERY OWN APPARTMENT...

...I want it to be as chic, cosy and messy as Carrie Bradshaw's...

...the entryway will be have LOTS of bookshelves containing row after row with magazines like Elle, Vanity Fair and of course every version of Vogue. Carrie's bible is my bible...

...the living room will be filled with items that don't really go together. And since I am the lazy person that I am, I won't have the time or the will to hang up my fabulous pictures and photos...

...as Carrie once said: "The only thing that I have ever successfully made in the kitchen is a mess. And several little fires". Painful to admit, but that is the way it will always be with me...

...talking of mess...my bathroom will be just as chaotic as this. But that is nothing new..my bathroom right now is a hundred times worse than this...

...the bedroom will be filled with candles and bits and baubles from different flee markets. And of course the bedding will be from Calvin Klein..in my dreams that is...

...ahhh, the closet. I don't think I'll EVER have a collection as grand and fantastic as Carrie's. Clothes by Chanel, Marni, Roberto Cavalli, Narciso Rodriguez, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana and Balenciaga live in that closet, and shoes by Jimmy Choo, Prada and of course the one and only Manolo Blahnik are neatly placed in their boxes. But maybe, just maybe, if I close my eyes tightly and really, really concentrate and wish for Carrie's closet to magically appear in my appartment...

...I will suddenly look like this. Well, a girl can dream can't she?! ;)
