My Fair Isle Sweater... Et Al...

I don't usually go gaga over Fair Isle sweaters -- there's something a bit too WASPy about 'em for me, but I do LOVE this one:
($325, Chimala, Stuart & Wright/ Refinery29.com)
I like the oatmeal color. Cute cut too, and not too overly "trying-extra-hard-to-look-like-I'm-from-Maine-ish." By the way, I've never been to Stuart & Wright and keep meaning to go but rarely find myself in Ft. Greene. Anyone been? Any good sale stuff ever?

($88, Kersh, Nordstrom)
Nothing earth-shattering here, but cute nonetheless. I like the longer versions -- more femme than the standard waist-length ones.

($39, Victoria's Secret)
Oh my God. Oh my God. I can't believe I just posted something from Victoria's Secret. I'm fairly sure this computer will blow up as soon as I hit "publish," and/or a giant meteor will crush me to death as I sit here in my home... but this is actually fairly ok-cute.

($34, Old Navy)
Looks like that Fair Isle sweater Old Navy was pushing earlier this season is done, but this pullover is a nice, not-bad comfy staple.

($10, Old Navy)
Comfy pajama pants (or "apartment pants," as my boyfriend's sister humorously calls them) -- ten bucks! Cain't beat dat!

($24, JC Penney)
I couldn't tell you the last time I stepped foot inside of a JCP (closest one's in Jersey), so I'm not too familiar with their jonx, but my sweater search pulled up this cardigan -- it's not Fair Isle, but it's nice and wintery, and it's not bad.

($68, Urban Outfitters)
I couldn't tell you the last time I stepped foot within a one-mile radius of a campfire, but Urban Outfitters' All-Son Campfire sweater perfect! By the way, Urban has free shipping over $50 until Monday, so this totes applies! Git it, shortie!

($98, SandrikasFiberArts.etsy.com)
This scarf, hand made by Etsy seller SandrikasFiberArts, is so adorable and romantic. I'd so wear it camping if I knew how to do that.

Finally, enjoy this super-alluring photo of me in my eBay-scored horse head cowichan. Neigh indeed! And if you're thinking of knitting your own Fair Isle sweater, check out this how-to video. And if you're thinking of knitting your dude a sweater, consult this book first.

Awesome J. Lindeberg Jacket For $99

Fellow flogger Daddy Likey's sick Members Only jacket thrift store score inspired me to find a couple strong-enough-for-a-man but totes-okay-for-the-ladies menswear-inspired looks of my own. But, like any New York savvy shopper worth her weight in coupons (either online or real: online in my case) will tell you, there's really NO such thing as a decent thrift store in Manhattan. So, this will have to suffice:

($99, J. Lindeberg, Tobi.com)
Not bad atall for gois or goils. The only thing I can't deal with, though, is this:

Um, I really don't need the convertible parachute-backpack-landing-gear option or what the fuck ever that is. Just the jacket please! Thanks!

($130, M Carter, Refinery29.com)
Lurve this wood-print hoodie. For boys OR for girlz!

($65, Beard & Bangs, Steven Alan)
Nabbed a pic of this great whiskey tee from Thrillist, who did a piece on Beard & Bangs, an indie label that, like Barking Irons, does lotsa Fin de siècle, swashbucklin-on-the-Bhowrie (before it turned into one big bank and condo complex) prints that evoke images of Stephen Crane novels and dirty men bashing the shit out of each other with ye olde broken bottles while women lift up their skirts to reveal yukky syphilis and other stuff The Decemberists like to sing about. Love that!

($350, Ritmo Mundo, Barneys)
Finally, I just really like these watches by Ritmo Mundo. The bright colors kinda remind me of Polo or Nautica stuff, which would normally send me running, but they work here. However, I'm actually not feeling the "Ritmo Mundo" name, and only because it brings up my own uncomfortable association with when Ricky Martin performed that "Cup Of Life" song at the World Cup or whatever how ever many years ago, and the performance featured those enormous wind-powered nylon dancing things, confetti, waaaay too many horns, and that awful "ale ale ale" arm-waving dance he did in sync with his ass, and how the Spanish-to-English translation was just so painful. But maybe that's just me.

A Few Cute, Cheap Things That Are All Well Under 100 Bucks

Okay, as much as Shanna Moakler is pretty busted (and, it goes without saying that Travis Barker is ABSOLUTELY busted), I really liked the Paul & Joe bird printed... er... top (?) she wore to the VMAs this past September:

($70, Paul & Joe Sister, LisaKline.com)
So, I was quite deeeelited to find this Paul & Joe Sister silk top with a very similar print marked down by over $200! I do wonder a bit if it'd create an unwelcoming "enlargening" effect, but whatevs. It's adorbs.

($40, Tagbanger, Oogaboogastore.com)
This guys' shirt is NOT meant to create a similar look to Travis' (ew. as if!!). I just happened to have it in my long list of stuff to post. It IS white and DOES feature bright colors, but no one should EVER aspire to dress like Travis Barker, so let's just chalk it up to coincidence. Anyway, this mens' T-shirt is extremely rad. I sorta wanna buy it for myself (my boyfriend refuses to wear white Tees), but $40 on a Tee is a bit much for me, especially if I don't know how it'll fit. Ah the dangerous perils and pitfalls of online shopping!

($20, Sara Clendening, Oogaboogastore.com)
I TOOOOOOTES forgot to add this fun shoelace-and-wood-bead necklace to last week's post descriptively, revealingly and enticingly entitled "Jewels: Big, Bold, Funky, Chunky." Anyway, I totes bought this fun kindergarten-reminiscent necklace and am POSITIVE it'll RULE with a dark top, dark jeans and dark Oxfords and maybe a blazer. Let the comments of dissent begin!

Comfy Cardis!

My cardigan and knit obsession continues, especially in goes-with-anything greys and blacks. Here are several cardis, sweaters and other knits I so deeply desire:

($150, Clue, Satineboutique.com)
But will I look as pouty and impossibly small-waisted if I buy this?

($306, Alexander McQueen, Shopbop.com)
I normally can't stand wearing clothes with brands plasted across them, but this isn't too obvious. Plus, graffiti = funs!

($228, Marc By Marc Jacobs, Shopbop.com)
This is so effin' cute. Subtle too. Deeeelightful!

($235, L.A.M.B., Shopbop.com)
Due to the placement of the knit straps, I'd prolly advise not wearing this is you're over a small B-cup, lest your boobs push the belts so far to the sides that they get swallowed up by your pits. Regardless, I sorta love the lederhosen vibe this cute little sweater gives off.

($63, Priorities, Bluefly)
A striped, zippy hoodie cardi is such a necessity that they even named it PRIORITIES!

($194, Nom*D, Refinery29.com)
One for the dudes! I'm sorta unsure how I feel about longer stuff on dudes (save for a nice 3/4-length coat, but I guess this is sorta similar.

($245, C&C California, Shopbop.com)
Can you make it through the winter without a dark cashmere cardigan? (Or a reasonable facsimile -- a reasonable facsimile being at least $150 less and probably NOT cashmere?) No. No you cannot.

($258, Juicy Couture, Nordstrom)
Love the dainty little ruffling -- usually I HATE ruffles, but this is just non-intrusive enough. And I love the heather grey version too.

($29, Target)
I realized most of the stuff I posted was well above the FB affordable standard, so here's one from Ol' Faithful, Targz.

Thursday Cuters!

Several inexpensive -- and cute! -- items for to which pertains to the providing of your Thursday happiness. Many thanks!

($19, Loungefly, Lulusfashionlounge.com)
I know, I know... rollerskate t-shirt = so young. But it's adorable. And Erin Fetherston's new Target line is all hearts (the line hits stores in November, by the way), so give me rollerskates, okay? Allow me that.

($48, Asos.com)
Speaking of Erin Fetherston, this top sorta reminds me of her style (and not just because this chick has blonde hair). Quite adorable and not TOO Peter-Pan-y.

($63, Disney Couture, 80spurple.com)
Speaking of Peter Pan, as I totally contradict myself, I fully love this little slingshot necklace, especially since it has that extra layer of hanging cuteness (yes, I did say "hanging cuteness") int he form of a chain and faux gem. It reminds me a bit of this mirror necklace that the extremely sweet Kidada Jones (uh, she's awesome!) gave me at a celebrity gift suite in Vegas after she saw me fawning over it like a kid and a candy store window. I wear it on the regs. Again, I can't stand regular Disney crap, but I love their couture jewelry line.

($15, ROOTOTE, Yesstyle.com)
No one NEEDS a totebag with a whimsical vintage-style map of Europe on it, but its extraordinary cuteness level is causing my Eurotote cravings to kick in on a massive level. Also, check out their l'il biscuits bag! Eee!

(Apprx $121, Adidas, Urbanindustry.co.uk)
Y'all, dudes deserve cute shit too, doncha think? This pullover is so cute I'd definitely even consider wearing it myself!

My Friend Neil Gets Street Spotted On Racked

This is my always-impeccably-dressed (and highly talented!) friend Neil, who was captured on Racked and braved many of their readers' absurd comments. Neil is ALWAYS dressed like this -- retro social club-chic dude -- in an unironic way, and it's always great. He's got his own haberdasher and has perfect suits. Yay, Neil!

Striped Sweaters Forever!

Even with a cigarette in hand, Katherine Heigl is a pretty, pretty princess. She always looks great in stripes, don't she? And I LOVE her Juicy Couture striped cardigan -- seriously, she even manages to make beige beautiful! -- available here:
($278, Juicy Couture, Shopbop.com)

($278, Juicy Couture, Revolveclothing.com)
I also love it in black, but ahmahgah, this chick is TO'. UP.

($268, Juicy Couture, Saks Fifth Avenue)
Also cute in dress form.

($160, Line, Saks Fifth Avenue)
Pair red stripes with almost any dark color and you run the risk of looking like you're TRYING to dress like a member of Panic! At The Disco, but for some reason, this tunic sweater pulls it off without the Hot Topic effect.

($129, Sutton Studio, Bloomingdales)
Mmm. Cashmere AND silk. Delish.

($327, Trovata, Revolveclothing.com)
Show me a dude who doesn't look cute in a striped sweater and I'll show you... a dude who just isn't cute, unfortunately.

($168, Juicy Couture, Saks Fifth Avenue)
For some reason, I almost find these fun barbed wire stripes sorta smart and not schticky!

($49, Urban Outfitters)
Herringbone stripes = fantastic!

($72, Paul Frank, Urban Outfitters)
Mmmm. Orange! Bring on the CHILL!

Celeb Roundup

We don't focus too too much on famous folks here at Chez Binge, mainly because there are more than enough celebrity gossip sites out there, but a few celeb snaps caught my eye today.

I really like the dress Lauren "Don't Call Me L.C." Conrad wore to the Teen Choice Awards. Apparently she designed the dress herself. More pix here.

Also, I was psyched to see that the adorkable Justin Long (who's rumored to be dating Drew Barrymore - !!?!?) was wearing Modern Amusement, an indie Ben Sherman-esque men's line that I absolutely love.

Jennifer Garner does something or other in Japan. She looks so graceful and elegant yet not totally boring. Yay! (Photo via JustJared)

Rihanna looks like someone wrapped her in some kind of haute protective packaging at some bullshit Nascar event. I do like her shoe (singular) though. Looks like Ruthie Davis. (Photo via Rocklandusa.com)

I actually think Mischa Barton looks amazing in her Iceberg ads... though not as amazing as she looks on the August cover of Elle UK, despite those unforgivable disco bracelets that look like big, gay cantaloupes or something. (It actually took me a while to realize they were bracelets on her actual arms and not some overlay product shot).

(Photos via Mischanews.com)

(Photo via Thecoolhunter.net)
The bangles, by the way are by British accessories designer Scott Wilson, who designed the piece for Matthew Williamson, who I kinda think looks like he could be Mischa's gay cousin. Don't they both sorta have a bit of that weird Care Bear stare situation happening?

Anyway, it certainly looks like she's come a long way from her denim days.

Also, I don't know what's more disconcerting: Amy Winehouse's drug probs or her in a bikini:
(Photo via TheSuperficial)

Also from The Superficial, I'm plotzing over this hilarious depiction of Lindsay Lohan doing drugs in rehab troubles:

According to reports, Lindsay was also said to have been caught having sex in a toilet stall with a male patient. She's also frequently late to meetings and refuses to do any chores or menial tasks such as washing up. Man, even in rehab this woman is unstoppable. She's like the Terminator, but instead of being programmed to kill she's been programmed to party. Earth could get hit by a meteor and Lindsay Lohan would be the only surviving creature, and instead of looking for other survivors or getting help, she'd just drink a beer and try to hump a corpse.

Ahhh it's funny cuz it's troo!
