Mad Men's Christina Hendricks Sexies Up London Fog

OHAI JOAN! Christina Hendricks, who is the actual person who plays Mad Men's Joan Holloway, who is NOT a real person, is the new face of London Fog's fall 2010 outerwear and accessories campaign. Because she can make even a suitcase look sexy. It's absurd, I know.

CATHERINE SEZ: Too bad they Photoshopped the sass out of her. Sad. She's not a skinny bitch! Why make her one?

Check out Christina Hendricks talking London Fog sexy times!

OMG! MAD MEN FURNITURE FOR SALE ON EBAY!

HOLY mid-century furniture! You can totally bid on the ACTUAL FACTUAL furniture from the set of "Mad Men" right now on Ebay!

You can totally buy Don Draper's credenza and store your booze on top of it so you can practice drinking 17 times a day and being a functional alcoholic, and lots more Mad Men office furniture, so you can put on a girdle and pretend to hire people, fire people, cheat on your spouse, have a Christmas party with conga line, get sad letters from your fucked-up daughter, or engage in pre-equal rights workplace sexism.

Sadly, as my friend pointed out, Jon Hamm is not for sale.

Proceeds benefit City Of Hope cancer care center.

I Bought It: Miu Miu-Alike French Connection Dandy Voile Dress

French Connection

I've been in the market for some slightly more professional dresses -- I work in online content for MTV, so this is pretty professional in my realm. I don't exactly need a Chanel suit or whatever (though Chanel, if you're reading this and have some kind of blogger suit program, I'd be happy to wear one to work and watch people's WTH faces). Also, I've been scratching a LOT of impulse buy itches lately, and this French Connection dress was one them. I was at Bloomingdale's, and this pretty much leaped up into my arms like a lost puppy looking for a home. It practically licked my face. Annoyingly, I paid $148 for it (very unlike to me to whip out one and a half Benjamins, but again, this poor dress, it needed a home -- also, I don't carry "Benjamins." I don't think I've ever seen a real 100-dollar bill in my life except maybe in mafia movies... I really need richer friends) and then I saw it on French Connection online for half that, but it was sold out, so whatever. It fit perfectly, despite the fact that it was about 128 sizes larger than the three sizes I might normally wear. (Looks like I'm not the only one who finds that French Connection likes to size up.)

Anyway, as much as I love Mad Men-style everything (duh -- I'm in my '30s and live in Brooklyn. It's a given), there's a time and a place to dress like Joan Holloway, and a time and place to be not costumey. So while the pleated, nipped-waist style feels retro, the ruffled sleeves keep this from looking like you're swilling a Manhattan and vying for Don Draper's attention. It's like Mad Men meets Gaga.

Oh, and the print kinda references Miu Miu, no?
($1094, Miu Miu, Mytheresa.com)
Hmm. Maybe I did get a good deal after all.

Agent Provocateur's New Bridal Collection Means You Gets To Be Christina Hendricks On The Cover Of 'New York' Mag

If you, like me, Stan for Christina Hendricks (Joan from "Mad Men") AND like olde-tymey-looking lingerie, then rejoice! Agent Provocateur's new bridal collection is a.) gorj, and AND b.) goes up to an E cup. Often, if you're a chesty lady and you walk into a nice lingerie place, they all but LOL in your FACE and basically suggest you sew two C cups together and pray. So an E cup is, if you'll pardon me here, a "big" deal for lingerie. Especially bridal. My favorite of Agent Provocateur's new bridal line is the super retro "Thelma" skirted sweetheart body suit below. It's $390. Oh yeah, and I SWEAR I'll soon stop being lazy and post some wedding pix already, speaking of bridal shiz.

Mad Men's Jon Hamm Falls Into The Gap... Also Into My Lap!

I don't care if he's selling Uzis that discharge disease. I will buy ANYTHING Jon Hamm is selling, including Jon Hamm's john ham. It just so happens that he's hawking Gap holiday merch, along with pretty blonde me (I dyed my hair, btw), pictured below! Aren't I SO cute!

That's actually his girlfriend, actress/ writer Jennifer Westfeldt, but ONLY because I DUMPED him.

Anyway, check out The Gap's new online holiday videos -- they're scaling back their TV ads, remember? They're cute, just like a puppy present with a blue bow under its neck, waiting under a menorah!

Quickie 'Man Men'-Inspired Jacket By Victor by Victor Alfaro

($65, Victor by Victor Alfaro, Bon Ton)
Bon Ton reminds me of old ladies, and kind of in a bad way, but this Mad Men-ish cropped cheetah-print jacket reminds me of old ladies in a GOOD way.

drikaB Birdy Tote + Pouch!

Truly, I need another bag like Don Draper needs another random casual encounter, but I've been staring at this one like a pedo on a playground. It's handmade by Etsy artist drikaB, and I LOVE the contrast of the rustic jute handle and Marimekko-inspired boldy bright fabric. AND it comes with a little pouch! TEE!

The whole lot (lady not included) is just $87 at Delight.com, or $67.50 for the tote, $24.50 for the pochette. Super deeeeeelightful!

** UPDATE! BOUGHT! Used promo code Decor8Delight08 = 20% off! **
** UPDATE! TO THE UPDATE!: Just received the tote, and ZOMG it's even better IRL! RUN, DON'T WALK!

Um, hi. Remember Betty Draper's AMAZING aquamarine jacquard Grace Kelly dress from two episodes ago?

($350, Rebecca Taylor, eDressme.com)
BOOM. Rebecca Taylor's blue-gold sweetheart party dress. YOU'RE WELCOME.

My Quickie 'Mad Men' Purchases From Target!

I popped into Targz when I was home the other week (and by the way, I must say, the Hilltop Virginia Beach Target was spifftacular to begin with, but with its recent facelift, it's even nicer!), and I picked up a few items to hopefully make my outfy more formal-looking when I attend a wedding this Sunday (at Steiner Studios!), which I just found out is formal. EEk!

Firstly, I'm wearing this Christopher Deane dress:
($163, Christopher Deane, Revolveclothing.com)
The dress is much more fanco-lookin' in person -- silky and pretty pretty. But I still fear it's not necessarily formal attire, you know? So, these are the Target items I hope to fance it up a bit with. They sorta Mad Men-inspired (Mad Men being my second biggest style obsession next to peacocks!), but hopefully not TOO costumey.

Impulse buy of the CENTURY, but it's certainly beautiful and certainly worth the price. From the VERY same Anya Hindmarch line that MkHo DISPARAGED!

($44.99, Mossimo, Target)
Usually I DON'T advocate the tenty swing jacket for myself at least, but this one has a cute little cinched waist, and it's a nice heavy wool, for in case it's Arctic out, like it is tonight.

($21.99, Target)
These are far daintier and cuter in person.

ALSO, I've got an appointment to get mah hairs all did up nice by Matthew James at Sam Brocato Salon (formerly Oscar Bond) in Soho. The doll-faced Amber at Beauty Blogging Junkie has gushed like a volcano over this man, so I can't wait to see what he achieves with my hair.

Hopefully the whole look isn't too costumey -- the jacket and gloves are just for transporational purposes. It's just mainly going to be the dress, the bag, and the fun hair. Not like I'm gonna roll in smoking a cigarette from a long holder, and wearing a pill box hat, waving like Jackie O... OR WILL I?

Anyway, thoughts, pleaze? Is the outfit formal enough for a black tie-optional wedding?

The MOST Beautiful Vintage 1950s Wedding Dresses Evar.

If you dream of wearing a 1950s vintage Mad Men-inspired wedding dress (though hopefully you don't aspire to a marriage like Joan or Betty's) AND have a waist that's less than like 27 inches, check out these dream-worthy vintage wedding dresses from Etsy seller Fab Gabs, who even styles her seller's photos so it looks as if she's partying like it's 1959.

($395, William Cahill, Fabgabs.etsy.com)
This dress has FIVE -- count 'em, FIVE -- Mcdreamy layers of tulle. You could be riding a bike or wearing snow pants under there and no one would know. It's so gorgeous I can barely breathe. Bury me in it. But leave the back unzipped, because this bad boy's got a 25" waist. Talk about waiting to exhale. (Shooby!) And credit where it's due -- The Bridal Wishlist scouted this one out!

($225, Fabgabs.etsy.com)
SIX layers of tulle! FOR WHEN FIVE will not do! It's SO beautiful, and I love the sweetheart neckline, but with a 28" underbust: 28" and 24" waist, I'd have to get several ribs removed and drink all my meals through a straw. Ah, but what price fashion? (Side note: the woman who sold me my wedding dress told me that a girl she sold a dress to had to cancel her final fitting because she'd starved herself to the point that she fell over and cracked her head open and had to get about 40 stitches. AHH, admirable committment!)

($250, Fabgabs.etsy.com)
My absolute favorite for that super lacey post-modern dash of Madonna.

PS -- I know I'm probably tardy to the party, but did you see Christina Hendricks on/ in In Style Weddings? (That's my only other non-barfy bridal mag besides New York Magazine Weddings.)

TEAM JOAN! Girl, you could do sidebends and sit-ups, but PLEASE don't lose that butt!

More Quick 'Mad Men'-Inspired Fashions: Michael Kors Pencil Skirt , Sexy Dolce Vita Heels, Plus-Sized 'Mad Men' Dresses Too!

For the few of you out there who AREN'T watching Mad Men, I KNOW I need to chill on all the late-50s, early-60s-inspired Mad Men fashions, but also, on the other hand, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WAITING FOR? IT'S THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE HISTORY OF TELEVISION! FOR REAL! I've been super sick, and the one redeeming thing about that has been that at least I've been able to catch up on all of the Mad Men I've missed.

Okay, lemme back up right quick, by the way.

If you haven't seen the show, here's what you need to do. It's what I did.
1.) Buy the Season 1 DVD, Netflix it, or borrow it from a friend.
2.) Download the first few eps on iTunes = WORTH it.
3.) Watch the rest of Season 2 on on-demand; in Brooklyn and parts of Manhattan, it's on "Entertainment on Demand," channel 1012.
4.) Watch all the video extras on AMCTV.com
5.) Feel your life INSTANTLY improving!!!!

Oh yeah, there's also a Mad Men marathon on AMC starting tomorrow (Thursday, Sept 25), but it's only the first eight episodes of Season 2.

And no, I DON'T work for AMC, but I kinda almost wish I did.

Okay, onto the fashions, in petites and plus sizes too!!

($89.50, MICHAEL Michael Kors)
Is there ANYTHING more Joan Holloway than a cheetah-print pencil skirt? I think not! Also, here's how to spend almost $900 more on an almost identical skirt by the same designer.

($89.99, Dolce Vita, Piperlime)
Super sexy. Love the the curl detail.

($89, OneStopPlus.com)
Super elegant, and the dark shades and high waist makes this super Mad Men. In sizes 14 - 26.

($69, OneStopPlus.com)
Love this pleated crepe dress. AND it comes in black, purple, blue, and red, all in sizes 14-26. Check Chadwick's for the exact same pleated crepe dress in sizes 4 -18.

($79, OneStopPlus.com)
All you need's a small little patent handbag hanging over your forearm, a pillbox hat, and a three-martini lunch, and you're good! (Same dress in smaller sizes here at Chadwick's.)

+ More obsessive Mad Men fashions!

Mad For This Cropped Leopard Jacket Because It's Sooooo Mad Men!

I LOVE me a sweet little leopard-print cropped jacket. There are about a million things it looks great with, and now that I've developed a full-blown addiction to Mad Men, I see little reason why Matthew Weiner shouldn't reward my enthusiasm and evangelism of his show with this very relevant cropped leopard-print jacket by What Comes Around Goes Around. Because Lawd knows, I can't afford its $495 price taggity tag. Bew.

($495, What Comes Around Goes Around, Active Endeavors)
Sure, this is an investment piece, but the price ain't exactly recession-friendly. Here are a few pieces that are:

($49, Newport News)
Only thing I'm not down with is the single-button enclosure. Creates a nightmare boob-tent situation for larger-chested ladies. But you C-cups on down, have at it.

($49, INC International, The Uber Shop)
Yay zebra prints!

($49, QVC)
I have a vintage Stuart Lang satin animal print top like this that I LOVE and wear all the time in the coldy months. Because it's so thin, it's perfect for wearing under cropped jackets (that aren't leopard-print, obvs). I like the side-tie here, and the shape of the top -- billowy, loose but feminine -- is so flattering. I'd give it a shot.

+ More of my Mad Men obsession in the form of Joan Holloway and Calvin Klein's Secret Obsession.

I'm Having A Garden Party, And Betty Draper Is Invited!

($118, French Connection, Macy's)
Betty Draper's too busy shooting Season 3 of Mad Men to come to my garden party, but if I were having a garden party, and she were coming, you know she'd whip up some fantastic Jell-O mold, no doubt while smoking, glamorously, of course -- because smoking while cooking was SUPER glam back in the early '60s -- and she'd probably wear something like this classic belted floral garden party dress by French Connection. Oh, and check out the butterfly (I think that's a butterfly -- or a butterfly lady dragon or something?) detailing on throughout the print -- it updates the whole look and keeps it from looking too period.

+ More Mad Men-inspired fashion!

Thoughts I'm Having About French Connection Stuff At 6PM.com

My thoughts are... LOOK how cute this stuff is!

($106.47, French Connection, 6pm.com)
CUTEST little party dress!!! And HI! It has WIDE straps... for ladies who... need straps. And I even wrote about its cousin, the "Seasonal" skirt!

($101, French Connection, 6pm.com)
Go ahead and TRY to tell me that this black cotton trench isn't cute... SEE! YOU CAN'T!

($121, French Connection, 6pm.com)
$120 for black leather boots? Are you KIDDING me? Wait... you're NOT kidding! (BTW, I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my f-troupe black leather boots!!)

($77, French Connection, 6pm.com)
Sweet! I like the perforated detailing on the toe. Sorta Mad Men-y too, no? And lots of sizes left! YAY!

Joan Holloway's Gold Pen Necklace: FOUND!

OMJ! It's Joan Holloway's pen necklace!

($20, 1928, 1928.com)
So, follow me here. Bust Mag scoped this on 1928.com, then Coquette picked it up, and then I saw it on Budget Fashionista. Anyway, not that I'm opposed to dressing under the influence of Joan Holloway, but I wouldn't wear it because it's a little overly specific. I AM, however, glad it exists in the world.

Also, check out the Don Draper couch I found at CB2. Thanks, Racked, for giving it some lurfs.

Non-traditional Wedding Dress Picks By Nanette Lepore!

Dudes, whether or not she knows it, Nanette Lepore is SERIOUS about making the BEST wedding dresses for non-traditional brides. Check it:

($252, Nanette Lepore, Bluefly)
The "Sequin Starlet" dress is a little too Bollywood in green, but I love it in smoke. And if you're not sooo in loves with your upper arms, these slightly longer sleeves are perfs.

($159, Nanette Lepore, Bluefly)
The "Pave Diamond" dress is so cute for bridesmaids or an outdoor picnic-style rehearsal dinner, you know?

($695, Nanette Lepore, Shopbop.com)
Sure the "Sahara" dress is, well, black, for one, but I think it's perfect for a beach wedding or a rehearsal dinner for a beach wedding. It also totally reminds me of a dress that Betty Draper would wear on the French Riveria. BTW, this dress also comes in neon pink, but I can't stand it.

+ More non-traditional wedding dresses! And an awesome one from Lela Rose!
